1947 Jennings Super Deluxe - 5c
(Chinese Front)
Here we have the very first counter top light up slot machine. When I received this machine the lights did not work and the chrome had lost its luster. To say the least, the outside of the machine was well worn. The machine was given a full external restoration. The castings were re-chromed, oak cabinet refinished, back door repainted, castings repainted and new plastic marquee at the top.
This machine also received new wiring to get the lights working again.

Below are addition before and after photos of the restoration.

While the difference in chrome before and after may not see that dramatic in the photos - it really is. Chrome is somewhat difficult to photograph. Below is a close-up of the bottom center section. Notice the "after" photo how the chrome is so shinny that it almost looks wet! The casting has also received new paint as well.

BEFORE
AFTER

Along with giving the castings new chrome, the oak cabinet was given some new life as well. As you can see below, the sides and base were refinished and given a factory correct stain. New Jennings decals added as well.

The back door was also cleaned and repainted. Factory correct wrinkle paint was used. Not only are the big details important, but the little ones are as well.

BEFORE
AFTER

The top back of the machine is a good example of what new chrome can do. Please keep in mind that most antique slot machines were not chromed originally, this model was.

BEFORE
AFTER

The last pair of photos below are of the inside. Many times these old Jennings light-up machines just don't work anymore. The vintage cloth wiring and other components just weren't made to last that long.
The second photo you will notice that all new wiring has been installed. Not only is the wiring new, but it is modern day reproduction cloth wiring. Who wants the inside to look like someone got the wire at Lowes - not me!
In addition, all the bulbs are the same original type. All the connections were soldered just like they were in the Chicago factory in 1947.

BEFORE
AFTER

When this machine was completed it looked just as it did when it rolled off the factory line in 1947 - possibly better even! The combination of new chrome, lights, refinished cabinet and new marquee really gave this machine a big boost in appearance and value.

Sometimes machines, like this one, only need an external restoration. The mechanism may work just fine or just need a minor tune-up - not a full restoration. In any case I'm happy to help you with the different options available.
