1938 Jennings 4 Star Chief

This machine is a family heirloom but was sitting hidden away for decades. It did not work and its appearance left something to be desired. While there are many different styles to choose from, the customer wanted to stay with a blue/gray paint combination, which was an option from the Jennings factory.

The following two pages show the before and after transformation of this beautiful machine. If you have a slot machine in need of repair or restoration please contact Don Creekmore - owner of the Nations Attic at 316-371-1828 or slots@nationsattic.com

This machine was in rough shape when it came in. Most of the glass was broke, the paint was faded and rough looking, the machine did not function, it was missing a few parts and the keys were lost.
Even with those obstacles this machine was 98% complete and a perfect example to be restored! As you will see in the photos on this page and the next, no expense is spared when bringing these pieces of Americana back to life.

Every machine that comes in for restoration is totally taken apart. A proper restoration can not be preformed if the castings or oak cabinet are not dissembled. By taking the time to do this, every detail in the wood and metal are scrutinized.
Other details such as using new cabinet bolts, chrome platting the handle and coin entry, buffing the exposed castings and brass and painting in great detail gave this machine the look it deserves.

Not only do the castings get the first class treatment, but the oak cabinet does as well. The cabinet is refinished and new factory correct cabinet bolts are used. Even a duplicate of the Jennings decal is put back on both sides.
Many machines, like this one, have beautiful wood cabinets. Due to neglect, paint or simply decades of use, the wood looses much of its beauty. With proper restoration techniques the cabinet can be brought back to life!

Even the back of this machine was brought back to life. The original aluminum back doors were buffed to a shine after they were cleaned of all the dirt and grime. It is important to note that no detail, even the back door locks are left untouched.
