A-2 Flight Jacket Nomenclature Tag

The most desirable leather jackets of WWII were made for the Army Air Force. These jackets are called A-2 jackets due to the nomenclature tag on the inside. This designated these type of jackets model A-2. This tag is very important and will be found on the inside lining directly under the color of the jacket.

Above are a few examples of what that tag looks like. As you can see these tags are all black with gold lettering. They will all have the TYPE A-2 on the top along with additional information below. There were a number of different manufactures of these jackets. Those are;

  • Aero Leather Clothing Co., Inc.

  • Bronco Mfg. Co.

  • Cable Raincoat Co.

  • Cooper Sportswear Mfg. Co.

  • David D. Doniger & Co.
